BioFeedback Stress Management
The Center for Social Success uses state of the art counseling techniques and assistive technology in order to provide the most effective treatment to its clients. Biofeedback is one such technology option that can help reduce anxiety, pain, high blood pressure and other stress related disorders. Clients learn how to voluntarily control their heart rate, muscle tension, breathing, body temperature and other body functions to attain greater levels of relaxation than they ever thought possible.
The first phase of treatment involves establishing baseline body functioning and teaching progressive relaxation techniques to control automatic stress responses. The second phase consists of practicing and fine tuning newly learned relaxation abilities to effectively control unhealthy overreactions to stress. Computer games and graphics are used throughout the biofeedback sessions to make the therapy more fun for both children and adults.
Biofeedback is especially helpful for adults who suffer from stress related conditions such as:
- Chronic Worry and Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Migraine Headaches (except cluster migraines)
- Tension Headaches
- Back Pain
- Chronic Pain
- High Blood Pressure
- Tempero-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction
Schedule an evaluation visit to determine if biofeedback is right for you. Relief is literally “in sight” – on a computer screen that accurately displays your physical response to stress and your mind’s ability to alleviate that stress.
